Wenatchee High School cut a single page out of all 1,100 yearbooks last week after a student on the WaWa yearbook staff used words describing weight instead of names to identify two freshman girls in their club photos.

The Obesity Struggle.

I have been obese for 35 years. It's easy to say obesity runs in the family. Well of course it does because we were all raised in the same way within a family of obese people. I have lost weight many times through diet and exercise. I would lose 60-65 lbs, and then hit a plateau that would last for months and finally I'd slowly slip back into the old habits and gain all the weight back and then some. I am trying to inspire a conversation about childhood obesity in Thunder Bay and North Western Ontario. The childhood obesity issue is reaching a crisis point,if it hasn't already. The time for action is now,and functional work plans need to be built and developed, so as to try and address the complex issue.



We have had many programs that focus solely on physical activity and many label our childhood obesity crisis as an activity ,or inactivity crisis.…
