Taking Action on Childhood obesity

Obese people are not the enemy. www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is a web site that has a buffet of information about childhood obesity. I want to call you,
the reader, to manipulate you into taking real action on this
subject. Our children continue to be slapped with messages that
state, or even infer that they need to be more accountable in the
area of childhood obesity, and obesity in general. The media
messages related to active healthy living, and lifestyle continue to
be spewed into the community through countless streams. The activity
model continues to be funded by the giant food, and weight loss
industries. www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com hopes to bring forth
awareness, support and a model for obesity prevention. The weight
loss industry continues to exploit the obese individual at every
turn. I am not a big fat loser, but I am morbidly, or deathly obese,
and I am trying to squeeze others into meaningful action. Rather
than look for some other person, or office to discuss my work and web
site on childhood obesity, I am calling you to action. The question
is; how can you share my work and web site?

Childhood obesity is our impending crisis, and I am hopeful that we will find skills and tools to support our children, within my web site. Our food environment
has gotten toxic, and currently over seventy percent of the Ontario
public is overweight ,or obese. I am calling out to you to find
time to feel inspired. Let’s get excited about the conversation
needed, and work together to raise the level of awareness about this
issue. The propaganda machine is slick and packed full of dollars,
virtually every talk show is spouting about obesity. By discussing
childhood obesity we are able to reach a wider audience. Blame and
lifestyle are the keys to the shift that I believe is needed. The
tiny shift may lead to a little fat talk, and a little fat talk is
that is needed. www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is attempting to
promote the national obesity, and encourage free flowing ideas, that
just might penetrate past the oppressive messages. The activity model
needs to be placed on the couch, and the couch potato myth needs to
be challenged.

www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is not about weight loss, and it could be described as harm reduction. If we label our children as lazy, unhealthy, not active
enough due to unscrupulous schemes, by those with a vested interest
we will continue to fail. Ninety- five percent of weight loss schemes
fail, but it is you, who gets the failure. Obesity is a by product
and it is time we started examining all messages our children are
receiving. Some of our children are prepared to die, in the hopes of
being thin. Can a large person be healthy? After all, some thin
people are less than healthy. Should we focus more on overall fitness
then fatness. Currently, many of our activity driven schemes are
setting the table for unhealthy food relationships and eating
disorders. The conversation is raging and it is my hope and desire to
play a small role in this effort. Can you spare a few minutes to
share and inspire the conversation about childhood obesity?

Childhood obesity is our environmental crisis. Our health care system is about to be ravaged like never before .Currently, the negative landscape surrounding
childhood obesity is toxic. The messages continue to be misguided and
miss the intended mark, unless the target was to confuse and confound
the masses. Many plans offer a very narrow scope, or miss the mark
all together. www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is adding dignity to the
discussion. This community driven action plan and the model, shared
accountability is ready to be tested. Let’s find one small region,
or community to test the information. Obese people are not the
enemy, and yet they continue to be victimized at every turn. Rather
than sending out messages that infer blame onto the
individual.www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com is working to expand the
discussion to include the food environment .Our current statistics
on childhood obesity continue to reflect failing plans. When we
create a working plan, one might think the results might be
different. You are what this food environment has created.

Www.obesitythunderbay.ning. com is working to raise awareness about childhood obesity, and I am calling to you for support. “Ask not what your country can do for
you- ask what you can do for your country,” John F. Kennedy.
Warriors are what I seek, and by warriors I mean people of substance
and courage. Courage will be needed stand up, be counted and promote
the discussion. I use the word manipulation and I hope it resonates
with you, the reader. Many very powerful lobby groups continue to
shape the conversation away from this food environment. I am speaking
directly to you, and I cannot understate the desperate need to start
talking about childhood obesity. The active, lifestyle, healthy
eating filter, and oppressive media need to be challenged, and I am
but one single person. The truth is I cannot continue this blistering
pace in the hope to reach out to others.
www.obesitythunderbay.ning.com continues to drain resources from my
Family, and monopolise much of my time .The childhood obesity crisis
is just that; a major health crisis and I am convinced the first step
is to promote the conversation. I believe that the conversation is
the intervention needed. We are standing on the means, and
suppressing any new concepts. Please find time to examine, attack, or
test the shared accountability model. If the work inspires you, and
convinces you to take some small action, I have been successful.
Together, we as a community can develop and create a community
driven action plan, to provide support for our children. What can
you do? Do you have the will needed to promote the nationwide
conversation that is required? Obese children are not the enemy.

I am seeking volunteers to share the message of hope and dignity.
