TransformNation’s will share findings and data of the National study : Testing reports out of the UK, "The Health Divide' that call attention to the social determinants of health. Look at economic,social conditions and culture that influence individual and group differences in health. There is introduction and discussion on the formation of Team Promise and the documentation “A Nation’s Promise to Keep”. The team will speak to their specific area of work starting with Mississauga Ward 3 Councillor and Honorary Chair, Chris Fonseca, who speaks to ‘Affecting Policy and the Environment’. Presentations from doctors and registered dietitians will explore the reality of what the inside of the body looks like when someone is obese, certified youth fitness trainers will share strategies for prevention and intervention of obesity. The Founder and CEO of Obesity Thunderbay(Paul Murphy) encourages individuals, groups, and governments to promote a healthy environment by re-evaluating some of the regulations in the food industry, as well as the accountability obesity model(Shared Accountability). Two active living research projects will be highlighted, as well as a community-based participatory research Get Your Move On – a national demonstration model and study, City Park Camp-A-Thons and Community's Pride through Individual Actions - For the Community, By the Community. Youths The Geography of Food. Share work done by "For Youth by Youth" short film festival winners.
